Richard Nelson, Chief.

I started my fire service career in 2003 for Company 2 and was elected to serve as Fire Chief. Which, I’m proud to do. Our department is all volunteer members. We are an "all risk" initial emergency response agency providing structural firefighting, emergency medical services (EMS), hazardous materials response, wild land firefighting, and rescue operations. In addition to emergency response we are involved with fire prevention, public education, and community risk reduction.

Being a firefighter is not easy. Volunteering to be a firefighter is even harder. The risks involved in performing the all encompassing job of firefighting are enormous. These risks are the same if you’re paid to do the job or volunteer to do the job. These risks are managed through continual education, training, and team work. I agreed to take on the Fire Chief’s position at this time because of my love for the men and women who continuously serve this community through their hard work and dedication. I am confident they will continue to provide the outstanding service you have come to know and expect from us. These men and women are vigilant in their duty and are the true heroes of our community.

Company 2 is an innovative and diverse department of Volunteer members that honors the community we serve. We are fortunate to have some of the most talented individuals in the fire service working here. We value the history and tradition of the Franklin Fire Department, an organization  built  upon the strong shoulders of our past fire fighters; without them we could not tackle the challenges of the future. With a new vision, Franklin Company 2 is well on the way to blazing the trail into the future.

I am pleased to welcome you to the Franklin Company 2 website; a valuable resource to residents of Pendleton County.

As you tour our website you will find information about the services my department provides and the events we are working on to continue to make Franklin a great place to be.

We are a vibrant department that values our past, sees present possibilities, and embraces the challenges of the future. We are committed to providing the citizens of Pendleton County with the best service possible. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for improving this website or our fire department.

Thank you for visiting our website.
